If November is an indicator of how much snow we will receive this winter, I think we should start shopping for snorkels! We are only a month into the ski season and all the days playing in the snow have been powder filled! I think the rock skis will be staying in the basement this year as the coverage is already amazing whether at the local ski hill or in the backcountry!
This is why my new G3 Infidels haven't had a chance to collect any dust waiting for the season to kick in. From the day they got to Revelstoke, they have been my skis of choice for day adventures. Being my first pair of rockered skis, I didn't really know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised from the first moment on them. The “Sweet Rise” camber of the ski really makes a difference in deep snow, as the ski just wants to float at the surface, even at only 98mm underfoot. Whether skiing in heavy Coastal style accumulations or Interior dry powder, the ski literally flies overtop the surface. I have been catching myself gaining way too much speed on the skis as their solid stiff construction makes you feel in control at high speed. That being said, their shape helps to forgive any excess of speed, as they are really easy to turn even in tight trees.
On icier conditions, they have been pretty responsive and again a delight at higher speed for their stability. The skis' dimensions being well proportioned, allows for easy turn initiation in pretty much any type of terrain and conditions. When travelling uphill, the trail breaking is somewhat made easier by the early rise tip. I was thinking that the Rocker shape of the skis would make it harder to skin uphill because if of a smaller contact surface but actually, I did not feel any difference when comparing to regular camber skis.
Overall, I think this ski would be a smart-choice for experienced skier looking for planks that can do it all as they will provide with endless smiles and giggles in the any type of snow condition and terrain!
